Description

Scouten Engineering is a dynamic consulting civil and structural engineering firm based in Prince George, British Columbia.
We have been successfully meeting the structural and civil engineering consulting needs of our clients since 1995. Our people provide well thought-out solutions to challenging situations. Our work has helped us earn a reputation as the creative problem solvers company.
We have worked on a long list of challenging engineering projects including; industrial structures, buildings, reservoirs, resource roads, heavy civil structures, retaining walls, piping systems, water supply, sanitary and storm sewers, roads and yes, even parking lots.
The services we provide our clients in addition to ‘nuts and bolts’ civil and structural engineering include; Cause and Origin assessments, expert testimony, feasibility studies, engineering cost estimates, detailed design drawings and specifications, tender and contract administration, site plans, terrain models, and grading plans.
Job description:
Position Overview: Intermediate Structural Engineer

We are in particular need of an Intermediate Structural Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in:

  • Management of engineering projects under the supervision and mentorship of senior engineers
  • Conceptual and detailed engineering design
  • Preparation and checking of engineering calculations
  • Development of sketches for distribution to drafting staff and management of the production of engineering drawings
  • Involvement in all stages of engineering projects, including client liaison
  • Authoring and/or review of engineering reports
  • Occasional site visits
  • Mentorship of more junior engineering and technological staff

The successful candidate will be currently registered or eligible to be registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
Projects will be structural (primarily) and civil (secondary) work such as: buildings, resource sector and highway bridges, machine bases and foundations, platforms, and site development and utility services.
This position requires excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare clearly written correspondence, engineering reports and technical studies, and to communicate effectively face-to-face with clients. You will be expected to work reasonably independent on assigned tasks, but under the guidance of more senior engineers. As well, you will collaborate with other staff members, on projects of all types.
This position includes working in a modern, well equipped consulting engineering office with the opportunity for occasional field work, including travel around beautiful central and northern British Columbia, and occasionally Alberta, Yukon, and Saskatchewan.
At Scouten Engineering, we work hard and play hard. Our belief is that if we support our staff and encourage a healthy (and fun) lifestyle, our clients benefit as well. After work you can find us snowboarding, mountain biking, dancing, fishing, hunting, canoeing and more. Our days consist of hard work, but in an office with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Work start and end hours are flexible.
