POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Tax Director, the Intermediate Tax Analyst’s primary mandate is to assist with tax compliance, including sales tax, income tax, and other indirect taxes. The role will also support initiatives to optimize legal entity structures and contribute to other tax planning activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working towards CPA designation required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • 1–3 years of intermediate-level tax experience with public or private companies.
  • Strong team player with excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Extensive experience using CCH iFirm Taxprep is a must.
  • Enrollment in/or completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with Sage and Sage Enterprise Intelligence (SEI) is preferred.
  • French language proficiency is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Complete and/or verify Canadian and US income tax returns and any required ancillary filings.
  • Liaise with tax advisor in foreign jurisdictions (eg. US) to ensure all tax-related obligations are met.
  • Prepare quarterly/annual tax provision and ensure timely payments of taxes.
  • Track and respond to tax assessments and notices of assessment in a timely manner.
  • Assist in all tax audits and inquiries, gather information and serve as the primary contact for regulatory/governmental agencies and external advisory firms.
  • Accountable for drafting transfer pricing and coordinating internally to prepare journal entries in a timely manner.
  • Research, interpret and advise on the implications of changing tax legislation and related income and sales tax regulations/rules.
  • Assist with SR&ED/R&D tax incentives and coordinate efforts with the business and external advisors.
  • Assist with the budgeting, forecasting, tracking and monitoring of income taxes to optimize the cash flow.
  • Assist with implementation of reorganization steps working with internal and external finance and legal teams.
  • Provide timely service to internal stakeholders.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned.
