Description POSITION SUMMARY The Advocacy/Policy Intern will provide foundational research and strategic analysis to support the Advocacy Department’s expansion into two emerging focus areas: community health pharmacy operations and insurance brokerage policy. The intern will analyze the legislative landscape, historical context, and stakeholder environments for these sectors, ultimately producing a comprehensive policy brief that will inform the company’s long-term advocacy strategy. This is a temporary, part-time position working approximately ten (10) hours per week for four (4) weeks. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to the Vice President of Primary Care and Public Health Policy and the Director of Governmental Affairs. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Advocacy/Policy Intern will: Policy Research & Mapping: Conduct in-depth research into the legislative history and current regulatory themes surrounding Community Health Center (CHC) pharmacies and the insurance brokerage industry. Stakeholder Identification: Identify key influencers, government agencies, trade associations, and community partners relevant to both sectors to map potential advocacy alliances. Opportunity Analysis: Pinpoint upcoming legislative windows, regulatory changes, or public policy shifts that present opportunities or risks for the organization. Environmental Scanning: Monitor active bills, policy debates, and media coverage to provide real-time context for the advocacy team. Final Deliverable Synthesis: Develop and present a formal policy analysis (in document and/or slide deck format) that outlines background info, current trends, and recommended next steps for the Advocacy team. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and protected information Perform other routine support duties as assigned EDUCATIONAL & LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES We believe an internship should be a bridge between the classroom and the professional world. Although the tasks are administrative, this role provides a unique educational vantage point: Applied Policy Analysis: Gain hands-on experience translating complex legislative and regulatory data into actionable business intelligence. Advocacy Strategy Development: Learn how a professional advocacy department identifies "entry points" for influencing policy at the state or federal level. Mentorship & Presentation: Receive direct feedback from the Advocacy leadership team and refine professional presentation skills through the delivery of the final capstone project. Professional Networking: Opportunity to engage with internal stakeholders and learn the inner workings of corporate advocacy within the healthcare and insurance landscapes.
