Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.   In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:   a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; c) are sponsored by governmental/non-governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor; d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months; and e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.   Background Information   IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. As an important function of its mandate, IOM Co-leads the Global Shelter, Land and Site Coordination (SLSC) Cluster, an IASC coordination structure resulting from the merger of the Global Shelter and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Clusters and the Housing, Land and Property (HLP) Area of Responsibility. Building on previous engagement of the Global CCCM Cluster since the launch of the IASC Guidelines for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action (2019), and Cluster-lead agencies' commitments, IOM is now leading a global project aiming at developing Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)' capacities in CCCM and other selected humanitarian areas of work to enhance their engagement in internal displacement contexts, as well as CCCM Cluster partners capacities for more inclusive approaches; and at supporting OPDs to become active site management partners through direct implementation of disability inclusive activities at site level.  IOM on behalf of the SLSC Cluster aims to enhance collaboration with local OPDs as well as with the International Disability Alliance (IDA), who will be a key partner to this initiative.   Supervision   Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and direct supervision of the CCCM/ Protection Officer, the Intern will assist in the implementation of activities to strengthen capacities of OPDs and local CCCM Cluster partners on inclusive approaches in displacement sites, and support the development of training and communication material, guidance and logistical support to the activities of the “Building local capacities of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities on inclusive site management and site coordination practices” project.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in strengthening the capacities of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and local CCCM Cluster partners regarding inclusive approaches in displacement sites. They will also support the development of training materials, communication guidance, and provide logistical support for the project.
