Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department (CCSD) Gender Equality Division (CCGE) 1. Internship Topic Gender responsive and adaptative social protection in the Asia and Pacific 2. Summary of Job Description The intern will Conduct analytical research on gender-responsive and inclusive social protection systems, including women's life‑course risks, barriers to access, informal workers' coverage, delivery and targeting systems, GBV‑sensitive design, and adaptive social protection. Map key intervention models and investment types used by governments and development partners, identify what works and enabling conditions, and translate findings into practical recommendations for ADB projects and policy-based lending. Support the preparation of 1–2 knowledge products and develop a presentation for internal audiences (CCGE, CCSD, Human and Social Development sector teams). 3. Period of Assignment Duration: 11 weeks Timing: June 2026 onwards 4. Location ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines 5. Expected Outcomes A synthesized evidence review on gender-responsive and inclusive social protection, highlighting global and regional trends and good practices. A mapping of intervention models and investments, including effectiveness insights and implementation lessons Practical recommendations for ADB operations, including entry points, design considerations, and implementation risks with mitigation measures Contribution to 1–2 knowledge products (e.g., working paper, summary note or similar) A final presentation summarizing key findings and operational implications for ADB teams 6. Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a master's degree program in one of the following fields: Gender studies, public policy, social policy, development studies, economics, sociology, international development or a related social science field. Strong academic background in gender equality, social protection, social inclusion, or poverty and vulnerability analysis is preferred. 7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements Demonstrated interest in gender equality, social protection, informal employment, or inclusive development Preferably with 2-3 years professional experience in conducting literature reviews, synthesizing research, or supporting analytical studies Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English Ability to translate research into clear, structured notes and summaries for operational audiences Familiarity with the international development context; experience with multilateral institutions (ADB, UN agencies, World Bank) is preferred. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently Comfort working collaboratively across teams and engaging with technical specialists
