Location: Goose Creek, South Carolina Department: Operations / Engineering Employment Type: Internship ABOUT THE ROLE Century Aluminum is seeking motivated and focused Engineering Interns to support our operations at the Goose Creek, SC location. Interns will work hands‑on within a dynamic plant environment, supporting maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency initiatives. This role provides meaningful, real‑world experience in heavy industry while contributing to projects that directly impact plant performance. ---------------------------------------- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ENGINEERING & TECHNICAL SUPPORT * Assist in promoting safe and reliable plant maintenance activities. * Support development of repair plans and assist with equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics. * Manage and organize spare‑parts inventories and updates. * Update and create technical equipment drawings and documentation. * Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment performance and operational stability. SAFETY & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT * Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within production processes. * Assist with safety audits, inspections, and environmental compliance tasks. * Update standard operating procedures and other essential safety/process documentation. PROJECT OWNERSHIP * Lead or support assigned technical projects from planning through completion. * Conduct data analysis to support recommendations and decision‑making. * Prepare and present project findings to engineering and plant leadership teams. ---------------------------------------- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS EDUCATION * Actively pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. KEY ATTRIBUTES * Strong leadership potential and initiative. * Creative problem‑solving abilities with a willingness to learn. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. COLLABORATION * Ability to work successfully within cross‑functional teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety departments.
