Description The Intern Engineer supports one of RLC Engineering’s core technical teams, Power Delivery (including Civil), Power System Studies, and Power Generation, based on the intern’s background and interests. This position provides hands-on experience in consulting engineering within the electric utility industry. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, gaining exposure to design, analysis, and project coordination while learning how their discipline contributes to the overall power system infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Assist project teams with engineering design, analysis, and documentation within the assigned department. Support engineers in preparing technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and project reports. Participate in on-site field trips to observe real-world power systems. Contribute to project organization, file management, and quality control processes. Work collaboratively with team members and mentors across disciplines to support project coordination and learning. Engage in RLC’s intern development opportunities, including training sessions, field tours, and professional growth activities. Requirements Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or a related Engineering field from an accredited institution. Completed at least two years of coursework in a relevant engineering program. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, or power system modeling tools is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in the utility, power, or infrastructure industries. Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering or renewable energy systems. Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn from hands-on project work.
