Intern, Financial Planning (Network Operations) This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026. Job Summary The Financial Intern is responsible for providing financial oversight for the Network Operations Business Unit (BU). This position provides financial insights to build an improved business model, proactively driving value through informed and insightful decision-making, fostering a culture of cost consciousness, control, simplification, and continuous improvement. Main Responsibilities Assist in budgeting, forecasting and analyzing capital and operating expenses Prepare year-end outlook (YEO) based on actual results and spending trends, and drive cost improvements with support from senior financial partners Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on expenditures and key performance metrics, including various analysis as required Monitor, analyze and explain monthly operating results against budget and forecast Preparation and distribution of financial reports to BU, taxation and Accounting Property Preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts Assist in management of accrued liabilities in compliance with corporate accounting rules Prepare business cases, benefits identification and quantification and ROI analysis Requirements Experience in budgeting, forecasting, preparing business cases and productivity reports Accounting experience in journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reports Experience working in a CN business unit* Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts to the audience Applies analytical thinking to make recommendations that pursue sustainable performance Initiates and drives organizational changes to enable business transformation Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher productivity Shares timely information within and across functions to get things done effectively Knows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertise Influences by translating expertise into practical business outcomes Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Advanced knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Essbase, business objects* Education Working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or Business Charted Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards* *Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset About CN CN is a premium railroad that sustainably generates value for our customers, shareholders, employees, and stakeholders with an unwavering commitment to safety and service.
