Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. Position: Internship Duration: 6 months (Full-time) Location: Bangalore, Karnataka Start Date: April, 2026 Team: Material Systems and Inspection, GE Aerospace Research Objective Design and build an interactive Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) software interface that encodes inspection logic/flowcharts. Implement rule-based and algorithmic flows that guide inspection decisions, integrate inputs from text and CAD geometries, and deliver a reliable, validated tool with engineers and inspectors to improve safety, quality, and productivity. Key Responsibilities Build an intuitive interface for authoring, executing, and visualizing NDE logic/flowcharts Translate NDE procedures/standards into executable rules, decision trees, and validations Ingest and parse inputs from text and CAD geometries, map geometry to inspection logic Implement data processing utilities (basic signal/image prep) to support decision flows Create dashboards to present inputs, logic paths, and output recommendations Write clean, documented code with unit tests and basic CI; maintain versioned logic sets Collaborate with NDE/engineering SMEs to validate outputs and iterate quickly Basic Qualifications Pursuing BS/MS in CS, Software/EE/ME/Aero, or Physics Proficiency in Python or C++ (JavaScript/TypeScript a plus) Experience with UI/application development and data parsing Familiarity with signal/image processing or data analysis Comfortable with Git and standard development workflows Preferred Qualifications Exposure to NDE (UT/PAUT, EC, RT/DR/CT, thermography) and inspection procedures Experience with rule engines/decision trees, workflow modelling, or state machines Python stack (NumPy, SciPy, pandas), scikit-image/OpenCV; or UI frameworks (Dash/Plotly, React, Qt) CAD/text parsing (e.g., STEP/IGES, DXF, STL; regex/NLP basics) and geometry libraries Knowledge of filtering, registration, and feature extraction; ML familiarity a plus At GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.
