REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s Program in Computer Science, Computational Biology, bioinformatics or related science program
  • Proven experience in python (FLASK), REACT for webapp/dashboard development
  • Experience in SQL querying and other database frameworks
  • Proven experience in app deployment
  • Experience in python for data cleaning and data wrangling
  • AWS experience is a plus
  • Interest in the clinical development of cancer treatment

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Bioinformatics team at Hummingbird Bioscience is responsible for guiding strategic decisions in clinical development that are already having a profound impact on the lives of patients.
We are looking for a talented intern to help us improve our capabilities through the development of infrastructure to manage, store and analyze the data from our clinical trials.
Through the development and improvement of R Shiny Apps, the intern will hold an important role, providing essential data access to the CEO, CSO, CTO, CMO, and multiple VPs, thereby making an impact on the company’s decision-making processes and the lives of cancer patients.

The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Further their full-stack developer skills
  • Improve our deployment and version strategies
  • Explore data visualization techniques
  • Learn commonly used analysis in the biotech industry
  • Get exposed to clinical oncology drug development

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop web apps, analytical dashboards, databases and ETL pipelines to support drug and clinical development activities of different departments (FLASK + REACT stack)
  • Improve/optimize already existing infrastructure in the organization
  • Develop and improve functionality of the tools, such as data summarization, analysis and visualization
  • Maintain our current python ETL pipelines and SQL databases
  • Write clean and maintainable production-level code
  • Document and test the changes to the current builds
