Then, watch for a unique link in your email to apply. This internship offers an opportunity to be part of a well-established investment team focusing on Asia Pacific credit markets. As a member of the OMERS Asia Credit team, you will play a meaningful research role supporting the team’s mandate to deliver absolute return performance by investing across the credit capital structure – spanning both public high yield and private credit markets in the region. Key responsibilities are centered around forensic and fundamental investment research, credit diligence and underwriting, and post-investment asset management with a focus on credit investing in Asia. The applicant should be intellectually curious, and have experience in analyzing, modelling, and evaluating credit transactions in the Asia Pacific region especially in the non-public space. You will have the opportunity to: Implement the OMERS Global Credit investment process focused on long term investment results Conduct comprehensive industry research and analysis. Develop a deep understanding of secular trends as well as structural changes and their impact on the industry and the companies we invest in Conduct forensic fundamental company analysis, develop financial models, and perform valuation analysis. Articulate drivers of intrinsic value of securities researched Monitor and review positions in the portfolio, including both private and public investments Present and defend investment recommendations to the team Participate in, contribute to, and encourage healthy and robust investment debate and challenge of investment ideas Collaborate with OMERS investment teams and offices globally and help institutionalise knowledge Foster relationships with corporate management teams and other market participants Qualifications and Competencies: Relevant internship experience in leveraged finance, investment banking, private equity, or buyside Strong interest in investment research in the Asia Pacific region Pursuing a university degree in economics, business, quantitative or computer science related discipline Excellent analytical skills with an ability to generate deep insights Intellectually curiosity and deep comfort with robust debate and challenge Ability to articulate clear, logical, and convincing arguments and explain complex ideas simply Action-oriented proactive with a high degree of initiative Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written Effective team player with a collaborative attitude Impeccable integrity Years 3-4 preferred, flexible to strong year 2 candidates As one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, our people-first culture is at its best when our workforce reflects the communities where we live and work — and the members we proudly serve.
