*This is an in-office, nine-week summer internship in Overland Park, KS from June 1 through July 31, 2026, and is for incoming college juniors or seniors. The pay is $20 an hour. We push through challenges to make goals a reality.  POSITION SUMMARY  The summer Design Intern supports Ad Astra’s marketing team by creating high-quality visual content that advances our brand and mission to improve student success in higher education. Working under the mentorship of the Senior Graphic Designer, the intern will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of digital and print design projects—campaign graphics, social media content, event collateral, presentation design, and more.    POSTITION REQUIREMENTS  Education & Experience  * Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, digital media, or related field.  * Digital Portfolio that shows strong foundational design skills (typography, layout, color, composition).  * Some classroom, freelance, or student-organization design experience preferred.  Technical Skills  * Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).  * Familiarity with Figma a plus.  * Basic understanding of design for digital channels (social, web, email).  * Interest or basic skills in motion graphics/video editing are welcomed but not required.  Soft Skills  * Eagerness to learn and ability to accept and apply constructive feedback.  * Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.  * Good communication and collaboration skills.  * Ability to manage multiple small projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.    ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES  * Foundational Visual Communication  * Brand Awareness & Consistency  * Creative Problem-Solving  * Collaboration & Openness to Feedback  * Curiosity and Trend Awareness  * Time Management & Organization    WHAT THIS INTERN WILL GAIN  * Real-world experience working in a professional in-house design environment.  * Mentorship from a Senior Graphic Designer with advanced expertise.  * Portfolio-building projects aligned with campaigns, events, and digital marketing.  * Experience collaborating with a cross-functional marketing team.  * Exposure to brand strategy and creative decision-making processes.    Ad Astra is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
