This role is designed for individuals with little to no prior work experience and offers hands-on exposure to a professional work environment. Duties may vary by department and are performed under close supervision, with training provided as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. Additional and/or Department Specific Responsibilities: The AI Engineering Intern will work with the local IT team and business stakeholders to design, prototype, and support agentic AI solutions for Barnhardt Manufacturing Company. This role will focus on building practical AI agents, automating workflows, integrating large language models into internal processes, and helping deliver scalable AI capabilities that improve productivity and decision-making. Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include assisting with the design and development of AI agents using OpenClaw, NemoClaw, and major LLM platforms; building and maintaining Python and JavaScript code for AI-enabled applications and integrations; supporting prompt engineering, model testing, and evaluation workflows; connecting AI agents to internal systems, APIs, and business data sources; documenting technical solutions, experiments, and implementation steps; and collaborating with IT and business teams to identify opportunities for automation and responsible AI adoption. Requirements Experience or strong interest in building AI agents and workflow automation solutions using OpenClaw and NemoClaw. Working knowledge of major large language models (LLMs) and model providers, including how to evaluate, prompt, integrate, and orchestrate them for agent-based applications. Required programming skills in Python and JavaScript for developing, testing, and maintaining AI-driven applications and integrations. Understanding of API integrations, automation workflows, and connecting AI agents to business systems, tools, and data sources. Familiarity with prompt engineering, agent design patterns, debugging, and performance optimization for AI solutions. Strong communication, written, and collaboration skills, with the ability to document technical solutions clearly. High aptitude and willingness to learn new AI technologies, frameworks, and development practices. A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, manage priorities, and contribute effectively in a team environment.
