Internship at the Independent Evaluation Department (IED) / Thematic and Country Division (IETC) 1. Internship Topic Country Assistance Program Evaluation 2. Summary of Job Description Evaluation at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) promotes accountability and learning to enhance development effectiveness and impact. The Independent Evaluation Department (IED) conducts evaluations at the corporate, thematic, country, sector, and project levels to assess ADB's support to member countries through its strategies, policies, programs, and projects. IED's evaluation products offer ADB's Board of Directors and Management an independent assessment of ADB's strategies and operations. They also inform the design of future strategies by providing lessons and recommendations for ADB's continued engagement with developing member countries (DMCs). The intern will Support the formulation of the evaluation approach paper (EAP). Compile and review documents and data to identify key development challenges for the selected country. Summarize ADB's country partnership strategies and the strategies of major development partners in the selected country. Conduct portfolio analysis to assess performance and trends. Summarize learning from relevant IED evaluations. Participate in meetings with ADB internal teams and external stakeholders involved in the evaluation. Perform additional tasks as needed to achieve the expected outcomes, as agreed upon with the supervisor. 3. Period of Assignment Duration: 11 weeks Timing: June 2026 onwards 4. Location ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines 5. Expected Outcomes The primary outcome of the internship will be a presentation that: Highlights the key development challenges for the selected country. Summarizes ADB's strategy for engaging with the country. Summarizes ADB's portfolio within the evaluation's time frame. 6. Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a master's degree or PhD program in social sciences or economics at a school in an ADB member country, with academic knowledge of and/or a keen interest in international development cooperation. 7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements Strong analytical skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods; experience in using AI for data analytics, document compilation, and reviews will be a strong asset. Preferably with 2-3 years of relevant professional experience Ability to work independently towards agreed goals; Excellent writing and communication skills in English; and Ability to adapt to new work and living environments quickly.
Responsibilities
