Tätigkeitsbereich
The fully GIZ-funded project ‘Innovative Capital Mobilisation in Africa’ (ICAMA) aims at mobilising private capital for startups and growth firms in Africa, supporting sustainable development and climate goals. In addition to analysing existing challenges in the area of startup and corporate financing, ICAMA will develop and initiate three innovative financing schemes / investment vehicles that address these challenges and significantly contribute to increased capital mobilisation for entrepreneurs in Africa. This will be done jointly with the partners of the ICAMA initiative – an initiative of high-ranking decision-makers and change-makers from the financial sector, businesses and politics in Africa and the EU. The ICAMA initiative had been soft-launched at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) in June 2025 and will be officially launched at the upcoming Africa Early Stage Investment Summit (AESIS) and the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Contribute to the dissemination of results from the Action Research that analyses current gaps and promising opportunities in the ecosystem and thus presents the basis for ICAMA’s upcoming activities
  • Support with the set-up and initiation of the selected three financing schemes / investment vehicles, including research, conceptualization, preparation of consultations (e.g. working group meetings) and of service contracts
  • Support with the coordination of the ICAMA initiative, including drafting presentations, concept notes, social media posts etc.
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of high-level events, including logistics, agenda setting, invitation management etc.
  • Support with the development of a pitchbook for GIZ’s pipeline of startups that have been supported via accelerator programmes, (recoverable) grants etc. through other GIZ projects and are seeking capital to further grow
  • Ad hoc support for the ICAMA project (e.g. for team meetings/workshops), the Africa department, as well as regarding the collaboration with other GIZ projects in the field of startup promotion
