Position Description: The Mechanical Engineering Intern will help assist the customer project team in developing our power distribution equipment designs. The summer engineering intern program with LayerZero is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to daily engineering operations, project management, cross-functional teamwork, and research and development. Key Responsibilities: 3D Modeling: Utilize Siemens Solid Edge to create and modify detailed 3D parts and assemblies for power distribution equipment. Sheet Metal Design: Design enclosures while considering material thickness, bend allowances, and manufacturing constraints (e.g., punching, forming, and welding). Drafting & Documentation: Generate precise 2D technical drawings, including flat patterns, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Collaborate with the production team to optimize designs for cost-reduction and ease of assembly. Standardization: Maintain organized CAD libraries and follow company-specific modeling standards.
