Office of Risk Management (ORM) Risk Policy and Architecture Division (RMPA) 1. Internship Topic Historical Analysis of defaults, losses and recoveries in the private sector operations 2. Summary of Job Description ORM/RMPA seeks a motivated intern to support the development and maintenance of ADB's risk policy and architecture. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to how a multilateral development bank identifies, measures, and governs credit risk in its private sector operations. The intern will Analyze historical payment default and recovery data for the Non‑Sovereign Operations (NSO) portfolio and prepare a comprehensive report for internal and external use. This task involves interaction with management and will inform key risk metrics for NSO. Support the roll‑out of new Loss‑Given‑Default (LGD) rating scorecards, including testing, implementation, documentation, and presentation to management. This exercise has a clearly defined end and wide implications for risk measurement. Assist RMPA staff with research and analysis to inform updates to risk policies, methodologies, and guidance notes. Contribute to drafting concise briefs, slide decks, and dashboards that translate technical findings into clear messages for senior stakeholders. Participate in team meetings and knowledge‑sharing sessions; summarize insights and track action items. Work under the guidance of RMPA staff and collaborate with colleagues across ORM and select operational departments, adhering to ADB's policies on confidentiality, ethics, and data governance. 3. Period of Assignment Duration: 11 weeks Timing: August 2026 onwards 4. Location ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines 5. Expected Outcomes Understand ADB's risk governance and policy lifecycle. Apply quantitative/qualitative techniques to real‑world risk problems. Produce professional deliverables (reports, visuals, and documentation) aligned with multilateral bank standards. Become familiar with ADB's credit underwriting process for private sector operations. 6. Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a master's degree program or PhD in finance, economics, statistics, data science, engineering, public policy, or a related field. 7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements Strong analytical and writing skills. Proficiency with MS Excel. Familiarity with risk frameworks and an eye for data quality and reproducible workflows. Preferably with 2-3 years relevant professional experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
