Office of Safeguards (OSFG) Policy and Technical Services (OSPT) 1. Internship Topic Disability-Inclusive Environment and Social Assessment and Management 2. Summary of Job Description OSPT, OSFG is looking for an intern who will help use support in mainstreaming disability inclusion in the implementation of ADB's Environment and Social Framework (ESF). The work of the intern is also expected to align with ADB's broader approaches to social inclusion and engagement with people with disabilities. The intern will focus on reviewing ESF provisions and identifying disability entry points across the environmental and social (E&S) assessment and management process, and producing a short, good practice note to guide project teams on disability considerations throughout the project life cycle. The intern will: Review the ESF, including guidance notes and sector materials, to identify current disability-related provisions, gaps, and opportunities to strengthen disability- responsive approaches. Map disability considerations across the E&S assessment and management process (screening and risk classification, baseline data collection, impact assessment, mitigation planning, stakeholder engagement, grievance management, monitoring, and reporting). Review feedback, inputs, and recommendations received from disability organizations (including select CSOs) and incorporate key insights into the analysis and the good practice note. Align findings with ADB's broader social inclusion frameworks and operational guidance on disability inclusion, ensuring coherence between safeguards requirements and inclusive design principles. Compile good practices from ADB operations, international good practices, and other multilateral development banks on disability-inclusive E&S management. Draft a concise primer/good practice note outlining practical steps for integrating disability considerations across the E&S process in project cycle. Support internal consultations with safeguards, social development, and disability inclusion specialists to refine and validate the note. Prepare supporting materials such as presentations or knowledge-sharing briefs as needed. 3. Period of Assignment Duration: 11 weeks Timing: June 2026 onwards 4. Location ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines 5. Expected Outcomes Annotated summary of disability-related entry points in the ESF. Mapping matrix linking E&S process steps with disability considerations and practical guidance. Draft and final Primer on Disability-Inclusive E&S Assessment and Management under the ESF. 6. Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a master's degree program or PhD in social development, disability studies, sociology, public policy, environmental/social sciences, or related fields. 7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements Knowledge of disability inclusion, accessibility standards, or rights-based approaches (CRPD familiarity an advantage). Strong research, analytical, and writing skills. Preferably with 2-3 years relevant professional experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Ability to synthesize technical content and engage with multidisciplinary teams.
