About the Internship Join the Production Planning team at Collins Aerospace, where precision, coordination, and efficiency keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly. As a Production Planning Intern, you will play an active role in supporting daily scheduling, coordination between functions, and key planning activities that ensure on-time delivery to customers. This internship provides hands-on experience in production scheduling, material flow analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, while also offering opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement (CI) projects that enhance process efficiency and productivity. What You Will Learn Understand how production planning and scheduling drive operational success in aerospace manufacturing. Gain exposure to Customer Oriented Results & Excellence (CORE) tools and continuous improvement methodologies used to optimize performance. Strengthen your analytical and problem-solving skills by identifying workflow inefficiencies and proposing improvements. Develop effective communication and coordination skills through collaboration with engineering, materials, and operations teams. Learn to balance planning priorities across inventory, production, and delivery performance metrics. What You Will Work On Analyze material flow and production data to support planning, scheduling, and on-time delivery performance. Monitor and manage the production release plan, maintaining optimum inventory levels while minimizing delays. Support the Material Planning group with reports to track delivery targets and inventory turn goals. Assist in resolving material and scheduling issues on the shop floor. Coordinate closely with cross-functional departments to resolve planning, scheduling, and shipment challenges. Ensure compliance with standard operational practices, procedures, and documentation requirements. Participate in and initiate continuous improvement (CI) activities to enhance planning efficiency and team productivity.
