GENERAL SUMMARY

The purpose of this internship is to assist Health & Community Services public health programs with Emerging Threat efforts (COVID, Influenza, Seasonal Diseases/Outbreaks, etc.) as defined by the MDHHS Emerging Threats funding award. Funding is an attempt to improve health outcomes by enhancing public health workers’ training, skills, and performance. By focusing on enhancing the public health workforce, health departments are assuring a competent workforce and continuously making progress toward providing the 10 Essential Services of Public Health.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

An undergraduate or graduate level student with an emphasis in Public Health or a related field.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to Public Health programs. Duties may include special projects, data entry, developing promotional/educational materials and brochures, and hands-on projects as appropriate, specifically in the content areas identified in this section.
  • Assist Epidemiologist with data collection/surveys, analysis, and presentation.
  • Assist the Health Education team through outreach opportunities within community venues to promote prevention and educational opportunities for residents impacted by emerging threat event(s).
  • Develop content and graphics/videos for various social media platforms.
  • Perform related work as required.
