Position Summary: The integration of current coursework into an internship bridges the gap between academic study and professional practice, forming a bidirectional learning cycle. This process allows interns to apply theoretical frameworks to real-world challenges while using professional experiences to refine and deepen their understanding of academic concepts. Internship Learning Objectives and Outcomes: * Learn basic genetics to understand the theory behind using various genetically engineered models. * Understand the procedure for running western blots and interpreting results. * Learn the basics of cell culture and be able to perform simple proliferation assays. Expected Outcomes: By the end of the internship, the student will have gained introductory knowledge of biomedical research, liver biology, laboratory safety, research ethics, and experimental design. The intern will also develop basic supervised skills in scientific observation, data interpretation, literature discussion, scientific communication, and introductory laboratory techniques such as pipetting and basic sample handling.
