Sector Department 3 (SD3) Human and Social Development Sector Office (SD3-HSD) 1. Internship Topic AI Readiness, Evidence, and Practical Applications in Education 2. Summary of Job Description SD3- HSD is looking for a highly dynamic intern who can work on research, design, and development of knowledge product/event under the thematic area of AI in Education (focus on basic education). The intern will Undertake targeted research on how education systems need to navigate a future world that is heavily AI-influenced. Pursue gap and needs assessments of education systems in select countries - secondary education programs in the Philippines, Uzbekistan and India, and other countries as seen fit, and support ongoing work on AI readiness and AI in education leadership initiatives for education policy makers with the high-level technology (HLT) fund and Leading Asia's Private Infrastructure (LEAP) technical assistance (TA) activity. Provide research and analytical inputs to ongoing/planned studies on the role of AI in education, with a focus on school education (as well as practical and potential linkages with other sub-sectors including skills development and higher education). Coordinate one webinar with key stakeholders (e.g., leading international organizations, EdTech providers and developing member country (DMC) representatives) to develop pathways for adopting AI to enhance education delivery as well as learning by students. Support the preparation of a policy brief/knowledge product on AI in education. Support the organization of a leadership clinic (or a similar event/project) on AI in education. Support the start of the piloting of 2-3 AI solutions to improve the quality of education. 3. Period of Assignment Duration: 11 weeks Timing: June 2026 onwards 4. Location ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines 6. Expected Outcomes and Outputs Rapid evidence reviews on the relationship between AI in Education and teaching & learning outcomes At least one (1) knowledge product co-designed and co-developed with the Education team on AI readiness/evidence generation/practical applications on Education Co-design and develop at least one (1) webinar with key stakeholders (e.g., leading international organizations, EdTech providers and DMC representatives) on AI in Education Progress report with key recommendations on AI in Education pilots in selected DMCs 6. Education Requirements Currently enrolled in a master's degree or PhD program in Education/ICT/Economics/Public Policy 7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements Strong familiarity with education systems in the aforementioned countries in Asia and the Pacific At least a basic level of technical understanding of EdTech/AI in Education in usage, best practices, and adoption of technology in Education Strong analytical and research skills, particularly in EdTech/AI in Education Strong project management and coordination skills in knowledge events and convenings Preferably with 2-3 years relevant professional experience Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
