Description
The Intern is a self-starter who will be provided guidance while taking on entry level work that will lead to personal and professional growth. The daily job functions may include preparing and reviewing financial information, managing account records, processing transactions, tax preparation, research, and planning. Essential functions Prepares and reviews client financial statements so it can be easily interpreted by a reviewer or client. Complete all aspects of accounting engagements for clients, such as write-up, payroll and sales/use tax. Prepares individual federal and state tax returns. Review and organize tax information supplied by client. Prepare, review and organize tax information so it can be easily interpreted by a reviewer or client. Seeks guidance and feedback from more senior employees as needed to limit rework by producing quality deliverables on the first attempt. Effective prioritization of work based on deadlines and commitments; meets those deadlines and commitments by meeting productivity and efficiency standards. Exceeds internal and client expectations by producing quality work, quick turnaround, and attentive services. Effectively navigate the various software programs and tools used by the firm. Perform other duties as needed. Competencies: Professional with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate tax questions and issues to others. Attention to detail and dedication to producing quality work and avoiding negligent errors. Demonstrates organizational and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and commitments. Supervisory responsibilities None Work environment The work environment is an air-conditioned office setting with lighting and minimal noise. Physical requirements: Sedentary work. Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Repetitive motion and substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading Speaking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers through the telephone or in person. Hearing - The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (alarms) in person or through telephone. Must have the ability to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to other office locations or to meet with clients. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Travel required May travel as needed to other Byrne Zizzi locations. Required education and experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Student in Junior or Senior year of college working towards earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Preferred education and experience Experience with Thompson Reuters Suite. Intermediate to advanced knowledge working with spreadsheets including creating formulas, lookups, and the ability to analyze data is preferred. Desire to grow professionally within the firm.
