ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience of working within marketing and/or communications, particularly within a digital and/or social media capacity.
  • Evidence of project management skills, preferably cross-departmental.
  • Significant experience of writing and proofing copy for a range of materials, both hard copy and digital.
  • Experience working with design software to create professional and visually appealing content.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Proven ability to convey information in a clear and accurate manner to a wide range of audiences whose first language may not be English.
  • Evidence of ability to explore both internal and external stakeholder needs and adapt products, working style or services accordingly to ensure a high-quality experience is delivered.

Planning, Analysis and Problem solving

  • Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes.
  • Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, managing workload appropriately and proactively seeking opportunities to support team priorities.
Responsibilities

Make a key contribution to the generation of online and offline content including communications to stakeholders, printed and digital promotional material, student-generated content and advertising assets.
Oversee international social media activities on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp with potential to get involved in working with our Chinese social media channels. Generate organic and paid content and evaluate performance to provide suggestions for improvement.
Support the University’s English Language Programmes Team and the International Study Centre in recruitment and marketing activities to promote their programmes and provision.
Take a proactive approach in supporting and promoting the university’s brand proposition ensuring that our marketing channels are compliant and the wider team has access to appropriate marketing materials.
Recruit, train and manage student ambassadors who are supporting marketing communications efforts and take editorial responsibility for student-generated content.
Work proactively with colleagues from across the Colleges and Professional Services teams to ensure that all parts of the student experience are communicated effectively.
Support the University’s work in developing data driven marketing - tracking and monitoring users’ interactions throughout the recruitment journey and evaluating the benefit of the interactions, using our CRM systems.
Support the drafting, build and set up of communications and campaigns, including the development of automated and segmented communications.
Support the Marketing and Campaigns Team in the evaluation of marketing campaigns and marketing materials, making recommendations for improvement.
Contribute to successful delivery of recruitment events, including support for both UK and International events, which may include Open Days, Graduation, Clearing or external school events or exhibitions.Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
Advise other employees across the University with regards to marketing communications as required.
Support the maintenance and curation of content related to international students on the Cardiff University website and intranet
