Description

As one of two Student Experience Coordinators, and a member of the Student Experience Team and wider Student Services Team, the Student Experience Coordinator will be responsible for managing the delivery of the extra-curricular activities provided for the School’s portfolio of taught programmes, such as induction week, overseas trips, student dinners, events related to the School’s National Student Survey (NSS) and Cardiff University Postgraduate Taught Survey (CUPTS) promotion, in addition to bespoke events for individual programmes.
The Student Experience Coordinator will collaborate with others to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures and will establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with the AHSS College and wider University’s schools/directorates and outside bodies as required.
These posts will work closely with the Pro Dean Education and Students, Director of Undergraduate Taught Programmes and the Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes, programme directors and other key academic leaders and managers.
Specific requirements include:

Student Experience Support

  • In liaison with the Director of UG Programmes and the Director of PG Programmes to coordinate, plan, implement, regularly review and enhance the School’s taught student induction activities.
  • In liaison with relevant programme directors and academic leads, to arrange and support student dinners and student elements of graduation.
  • Provide detailed advice and guidance on activities related to student experience and student voice processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, contributing to the resolution of more complex issues.

Programme Support

  • In liaison with the relevant Programme Director or Module Leader, to plan, arrange, support and review on-site student activities, e.g., welcome events, dinners, presentations, and informal social events.
  • In liaison with the relevant Programme Director or Module Leader, to plan, arrange, support, and review off-site student activities, e.g., study trips (including, on occasion, overseas trips) and visits to external partners.

Supervision & Teamworking

  • To work closely and effectively with the other member of the Student Experience Team, including both leading on agreed items of work as allocated by the Quality Enhancement and Assurance Manager as well as providing cover for the wider work of the Team during planned and unplanned staff absences.

Systems and Information

  • To gather and analyse data and customer feedback to inform decisions, establishing trends and patterns in data and creating reports as appropriate.

Service Improvement

  • To ensure the provision, maintenance. and development of a high quality efficient and effective service to staff and students.
  • To maintain an overview of levels of service provided to academic programme teams, students, and other staff, undertaking reviews of administrative processes and procedures where necessary and implementing enhancements.
  • To ensure the development, maintenance, and updating of a work calendar of tasks so that processes and procedures are documented.
  • To actively contribute to wider Student Services Team meetings, working closely with the Student Services Manager to ensure a consistent delivery of service and sharing of best practice.
