Internal Audit Liaison                          Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in the development and overseeing the execution of the internal audit program, operating independently of other departments within the Bank. The Internal Audit Liaison (IAL) will report directly to the Audit Committee of the Bank and will work with the outsourced internal audit firm in carrying out the annual, risk-based internal audit plan approved by the Audit Committee.  The IAL will also serve as the primary contact for both the outsourced internal audit and external audit firms.  The Internal Auditor Liaison must maintain accurate records of all findings and recommendations.  This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee may perform other related duties to meet the needs of the Bank provided such duties do not impair the IAL’s independence. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Planning and Monitoring: * Conducts internal audits following risk-based internal audit plan approved by the Audit Committee. * Periodic review of general ledger balancing reports, file maintenance change reports, and listings of new deposit accounts, certificates of deposits, and loans.  * Periodic review of dormant accounts for improper withdrawal activity.  * Periodic review of overdrafts, especially those relating to directors, officers, and employees of the Bank. * Periodic review of Bank policies to ensure policies are consistent with actual Bank procedures.   * Schedules and conducts or supervises the conducting of surprise branch audits covering every CSR at each branch at least twice per year. * Periodically (at least monthly) reviews status of risk-based internal audit plan to ensure audit plan is completed timely and is adjusted for significant changes in operations.  * Maintains a comprehensive summary of all open findings and recommendations (i.e. Internal Audit Tracking Report). * Follows-up on findings and monitors and tracks the implementation of corrective actions in response to audit findings, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with recommendations. * Assists in auditing, monitoring, testing, and reporting in regard to the bank’s compliance requirements. Reporting and Control: * Ensures that all internal audit findings or recommendations are reported directly to the Audit Committee.  * Coordinates written responses to outsourced internal and external auditors.  * Reports of audits conducted by IAL must be accurate and completed each quarter.  * Communicates and follows-up on findings and recommendations to management during the audit process to ensure accuracy of information reported to the Audit Committee. * Keeps Internal Audit Tracking Report up to date.  * Maintains a record of all branch alarm checks, reviews employee accounts and correspondent accounts regularly.  * Ensures all bank and compliance policies are being followed. Bank-Wide Support: * Risk Assessment Support: Collaborates with internal teams to identify and assess key risks, providing insights based on department operations and processes. * Training and Awareness: Promotes awareness of audit processes and compliance best practices across the bank, conducting training sessions as needed to enhance preparedness for audits. * Policy and Procedure Review: Works with relevant departments to ensure that policies and procedures align with audit findings and regulatory requirements. * Reviews and audits the bank’s data governance process. * Builds out auditing processes and procedures to establish growth that align with the bank’s strategic growth goals. * Helps to develop, implement, and monitor the bank’s enterprise risk management program. Other Functions: * Maintains compliance and required compliance training with all banking laws, acts, regulations and bank policies and procedures.   * Any other duties and/or projects as assigned by management provided they do not impair the independence of the IAL. Requirements & Qualifications: * Education/Specialized License(s): Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field; professional certifications such as CPA preferred. * Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in internal auditing, compliance, risk management, or a related role in the banking sector; knowledge in accounting, banking operations, regulatory requirements, and internal audit methodologies; previous knowledge with Sarbanes Oxley Act/SOX 404. * Specific Skills: Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel; excellent written and oral communication skills required; familiarity with bank compliance regulations and audit procedures. Ability to use independent judgement, multi-task, be organized, problem solve and be detail oriented. * Supervisory Responsibility: None.   * Working Conditions: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Additional hours, evenings and weekends as needed or requested by management.   GenoaBank offers excellent benefits.  We pay 100% of the premiums for the employees medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, short-term disability, and life insurances.  In addition, we offer a 401(k) plan and match 50% up to 8% with an additional 4% profit sharing, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and generous paid time off.    EOE/AA
