Team/Division Description

The DWS Internal Audit team comprises over 40 employees at locations including New York, London, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, and ensures the timely delivery of high-quality audit results on all of DWS's material activities worldwide. Through its close collaboration with the Executive Board, supervisory bodies, and international regulators, the function directly contributes to the stability, transparency, and further development of a leading global asset manager.

The work combines a strong business and risk-oriented perspective with analytical depth, a high degree of independence, and the use of modern methods, data analysis, and increasingly AI-supported tools. Internal Audit identifies relevant weaknesses across the entire control environment, conducts well-founded risk assessments, designs risk- and process-oriented audits, and develops audit approaches that purposefully evaluate the design and effectiveness of key controls. This results in insights that shape business-critical decisions and significantly support the further development of DWS.

As the "third line of defense," Internal Audit plays a central role, assessing issues independently and proactively, prioritizing risks strategically, and serving as a competent point of contact for both the executive and group management as well as international regulatory authorities. Role description

As Internal Audit Manager (m/f/d) you will have the following tasks:

• Assesses the adequacy and efficiency of the internal control environment based on the applicable 'Internal Audit Methodology' and, under limited supervision, actively contributes to the implementation of audit plans of his team to support functional and business strategies.
• Leads or participates in local and global audit engagements, including special investigations, in all areas and locations of the DWS Group, independently prepares draft reports for DWS Internal Audit Management, and supports the tracking of audit findings and the validation of closure notifications.
• Creates 'risk assessments' for the individual areas within DWS and, on this basis, successfully conducts risk- and process-oriented audits efficiently within the given time and resource budget in accordance with the 'internal audit methodology'.
• Supports dynamic risk-based audit planning through continuous monitoring of DWS business units and infrastructure functions, as well as through the identification and assessment of material risks and the development of effective tests to evaluate the design and effectiveness of existing material controls for risk reduction.
• Proactively develops and maintains consultative business relationships with the audit team, internal stakeholders, customers and relevant infrastructure areas.
• Communicates work results excellently, both orally and in writing, at all hierarchical levels.
• The main area of ​​operation is Frankfurt am Main. The position requires travel.

We are looking for

• Several years of auditing experience or equivalent experience at a reputable asset manager / capital management company or at an auditor with a relevant area of ​​expertise.
• Ideally, a completed university degree in business administration/economics or an MBA; CFA, CIA, FRM, or other equivalent professional qualifications are an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of the market environment and the processes of an investment management company (KVG), particularly in portfolio and product management as well as product sales.
• Very good knowledge of products in traditional asset management as well as alternative investment products.
• Excellent knowledge of the relevant regulatory requirements in Germany and Europe.
• Proven ability to use AI tools to increase productivity, optimize workflows and solve business problems, as well as to apply critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical handling of data and AI results.
• Independent and proactive work style, supported by strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Organizational talent with several years of experience in project management
• Excellent written and oral communication skills at all hierarchical levels in German and English, as well as a confident demeanor.
• High willingness to learn and assertiveness, as well as a readiness to take on challenges.
• Teamwork skills and the ability to work carefully and purposefully even in stressful situations.
