About the role: As Internal Audit Manager, you will lead and deliver internal audit engagements across the organisation while also supporting the operational effectiveness of the Internal Audit function. This includes contributing to audit planning, reporting to senior leadership and the Audit Committee, and helping drive continuous improvement in internal audit practices through delivery of the internal audit strategy. You’ll provide assurance to management and the Board that controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively, while offering practical insights to improve business performance and risk management. Your key responsibilities will include: Leading and managing end-to-end internal audit engagements (planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up) Evaluating governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks across the organisation Providing practical, value-adding recommendations to improve processes and controls Delivering data-driven insights and root-cause analyses to stakeholders Preparing high-quality audit reports for senior management and committees Supporting the development and delivery of the Internal Audit strategy, risk assessment, and annual audit plan Contributing to reporting to the Board Audit Committee and Executive leadership Collaborating with first and second line teams, external auditors, and co-sourced partners Championing risk awareness and the third line of defence across the organisation Support the facilitation of the Integrated Assurance Framework and work in collaboration with Line 1 and Line 2 teams About You You are an experienced internal audit or risk professional with strong analytical capability and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels. You’re solutions-focused, commercially aware, and passionate about improving organisational outcomes. You will bring: Minimum 7 years experience in internal audit and/or risk assurance (financial services preferred) Proven ability to independently lead audit engagements through planning, fieldwork and reporting, including management of supporting auditors (both internal and co-sourced). Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in negotiation with all levels of staff and management to achieve outcomes Demonstrated leadership skills in delivering an internal audit engagement particularly influencing key stakeholders, and an ability to motivate other team members in an audit engagement. Strong ability to analyse controls and processes through current state analysis and data analytics. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines A collaborative mindset with a continuous improvement focus Tertiary qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Business or other relevant degree preferred Professional qualifications such as CIA, CA, CPA, or other qualifications in related disciplines e.g. risk and compliance certifications preferred Why you’ll love working with us: People First Bank – our new brand – says exactly what we’re all about: people.
