Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Chief Auditor in the completion of the annual audit schedule of the New York Branch based upon the Bank’s accepted Risk Assessment Program and Audit Universe
  • Perform planning, testing and reporting of more complex auditable entities of the branch
  • Direct and/or participate in functional audits to assess the adequacy of the internal control environment
  • Examine and validate the assets, liabilities, income, expenses and related records of the Branch utilizing generally accepted auditing standards
  • Prepare audit reports assessing the internal control environment based upon the risk criteria approved by IAD. Recommend corrective action for noted weaknesses and discuss audit results with business groups and senior management.
  • Assist in the facilitation of the annual regulatory exam and other ad hoc regulatory reviews conducted by the New York Banking Department (NYSDFS) and Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) examiners
  • Assist management in maximizing efficiency and reducing cost through performing functional audits and participation in committee meetings
  • Actively promote integrated auditing concepts and use of technology and analytics in all aspects of the audit plan
  • Participate in applicable training to gain knowledge of more advanced audit techniques and/or gain subject matter expertise to auditable entities of the New York Branch

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • The Internal Auditor must be adaptable to the changing business environment from traditional international banking to the direction the Branch may take.
  • Staying abreast of developments both within the Branch and in the financial services community is vital to the success of Internal Audit as a value-added function.

Years of Experience

  • Strong written, interpersonal and communication skills to cultivate a rapport with the NYSDFS and FRBNY examiners
  • An affiliation with a recognized audit organization and formal audit training required
  • Knowledge of state banking laws, FRB and NYSDFS regulations, as well as other applicable supervisory guidelines
  • Excellent comprehension of relevant aspects of international banking industry, including but not limited to: Treasury, Corporate Finance, Market and Credit Risk Management, Structured Finance, Funds Transfer, Accounting, Third Party Risk, Regulatory Compliance, Information Technology, Information Security, and all Operations supporting the business activities
  • Strong knowledge of auditing principles/standards
  • Excellent PC skills, particularly MS Suites (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and MS 360

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree preferred

Certification/License

  • Relevant certifications or license, such as CIA, CPA, CISA, CAMS, a plus

AVP or VP Designation depending on experience
Base Salary $100,000 - $200,00
