Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a proactive person with a keen eye for detail to join our small but dynamic, award-winning internal communications team within our Corporate Communications department.
You will support our mission to improve trust and confidence in Gwent Police by helping inform and inspire our 3,300 staff, officers and volunteers who serve our communities 24/7.
It’s a hands-on role where you’ll plan, create, and manage content for our internal communication channels, including email newsletters, intranet and digital screens.
You’ll also support the development of our channels and help measure the effectiveness of internal communications activity.
Police communications is a fast-moving environment where you’ll get to develop skills and knowledge alongside an experienced team with expertise in crisis communications, video production and design.
It’s an exciting time to be joining Gwent Police. We’ve just launched a new five-year plan, and internal communications will play a crucial role in helping to improve trust and confidence as we work to be an inclusive, caring and connected organisation providing outstanding services for communities in Gwent.
You’ll be working from our headquarters in Cwmbran, which has an onsite gym, canteen, and free parking, with flexibility for homeworking.

ROLE PURPOSE

To support the internal communications team in delivering engaging and informative content that helps staff, officers, and volunteers stay connected to the vision, values, and priorities of Gwent Police.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft and publish internal content such as email newsletters, intranet updates, and digital signage
  • Help maintain internal communication channels, including the intranet, Viva Engage, and digital screens
  • Support the planning and delivery of internal campaigns and events
  • Liaise with colleagues in departments across the service to gather stories and updates
  • Monitor feedback and engagement metrics to help improve communication effectiveness
  • Provide administrative support to the internal communications team, including scheduling, formatting documents, and maintaining content calendars.
