Description
As the Internal Controls Financial Reporting (ICFR) Student, you will participate in quarterly internal control testing, improving the Company’s process documentation, following up on testing results, and providing recommendations, as well as assisting in the development of our internally offered accounting update training. The ICFR team is dedicated to ensuring the integrity of financial controls across the organization. They conduct rigorous testing of key controls, validate compliance with accounting policies, and communicate results to leadership. This small, highly collaborative team works closely with business units across the company to gather data, evaluate control effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement. The team is based at our Home Office (HO) and plays a critical role in supporting the CFO’s quarterly certification of financial statements. Responsibilities: Participate in quarterly testing of financial controls by gathering data, selecting samples, and executing test procedures Evaluate control effectiveness by verifying documentation, assessing compliance with control design, and identifying pass/fail outcomes Assist in updating and improving process documentation to reflect current control procedures and standards Your Skills: Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally Detail-oriented with a solid understanding of accounting principles Critical thinking skills to assess evidence and identify outcomes Open to feedback and eager to learn in a collaborative environment Willingness to ask questions and seek clarity when evaluating complex processes Your Experience: Currently enrolled in a Business Administration program completing 2nd or 3rd year of study with a strong interest in accounting or finance Must have completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education and be returning to school What We Offer: Professional Development – Student focused learning & development sessions, mentorships and networking events Student Benefits – Housing allowance, co-op fee reimbursement and parking allowance for qualifying candidates.
