ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • This role requires experience in people leadership or an aptitude to train in these skills.
  • The individual must be commercially minded with either previous experience of sperm and AI biology or can demonstrate a biological aptitude, to have technical capability with laboratory equipment and flow cytometer sorters.
  • They must have a mind set to continuously evaluate and improve current procedures.

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To work closely with the Team Leader to provide training and development of shift members. Responsible for the leadership of the shift team, ensuring Company Policies and Procedures are upheld in the absence of the Team leader and other members of the Lab Management team. Ensure the smooth running of the shift working closely with other teams on workflow to maximise production output.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the TL with the training and development requirements of your team using a Cogent Values led coaching style.
  • Work cooperatively with the Team Leader to make decisions and plan tasks and the workflow for the shift period.
  • Act as the key communication point between the Shift Teams and the Laboratories Management Team in the absence of the TL.
  • Ensure data integrity and production traceability is maintained across all CBL lab systems and processes. Flagging any anomalies to TL & CBL Lab Management when checking and signing off lab records made by the team.
  • Together with the TL ensure the shift tasks are completed and any issues arising are communicated immediately to the Laboratory management.
  • Pursue expert knowledge and operation of flow cytometers as required by ST SOPs, aiming to optimise each sort period to achieve benchmark performance and quality metrics.
  • At all times ensure full compliance with CBL Lab H&S directives, CBL Lab SOPs and policies to allow good laboratory practice and full compliance with the Regulations and Industry Standards. Reporting any noncompliance observed.
  • Communicating immediately if any of the functional parts of the lab and equipment are not found in good operational or hygienic conditions and therefore not meeting CBL lab QA standards.
  • Offer appropriate agenda points for the regular shift team update meetings and be confident to explain key performance metrics to the team.
  • Inform CBL lab management team of any issue, problem or deviation on the CBL lab production operation.
