Are you looking to progress your career in Medicine whilst working at a major London teaching hospital? This is an exciting time for you to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and to work in our leading medical teams as we introduce our local Internal Medicine training (IMT) programme.
We are now recruiting for year 1 stage 1 IMT (CT1/2 equivalent) medicine rotations. We anticipate appointing to 6 posts in the first year, commencing August 2025.
Candidates will be appointed to a 36-month (or 24-month by agreement) rotational programme so that on successful completion of the programme they will be able to apply for Specialty and/or Internal Medicine Stage 2 training in the range of medical specialties.
The programme will mirror and meet the requirements for Internal Medicine Stage 1 training, providing exposure to the key components of geriatric medicine, critical and intensive care, acute medicine and simulation while allowing you to gain experience of a range of additional sub-specialties.
Suitable candidates will have completed Foundation Training or equivalent and have a career interest in medicine.

The Internal Medicine Training local rotations commence in August 2025 and are designed so that you can obtain the required core IMT training equivalence and experience (but these are not numbered training posts).
Rotations for years 1 and 2 are currently offered based in
Endocrinology, Medicine for the Elderly, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Neurology, Renal, Intensive Care Medicine and Haematology. Additional and alternative placements may be possible by discussion and agreement with our local TPD.

Successful candidates can expect

  • Appointment to a 3-year contract (or 2-year by agreement) with 4-month or 6-month rotations across ICHT services
  • Regular scheduled outpatient clinics
  • A named Educational Supervisor (ES)
  • 10 days study leave/ year with an enhanced personal study budget
  • Simulation and PACES training
  • Access to e-portfolio (Trust funded)
  • Annual Review Process and support to achieve the requirements of IMT training
  • Access to opportunities for quality improvement, research, leadership medical education/ training, digital health experience/training/qualifications/fellowships
  • Support and mentoring from our local IMT TPD, your ES and specialty consultants with career and competency development and mentoring

The programme is managed, quality assured, supported and mentored by our local training programme director and education team and progress will be assessed via the local ARCP process.
