Location: Viola Desmond- Hamilton, Ontario While you will be assigned a home site, this position requires flexibility to provide coverage across our centres in Hamilton, Ontario. Must have access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to drive to various locations as needed. Total Weekly Hours: 28.25 to 37.5 hours per week Schedule: Monday to Friday; shifts are on call between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM time frame Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants): RECE: $28.46 per hour Non-RECE: $25.91 per hour Internal closing date: December 22, 2025 Why Work with Us? Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent (e.g., Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Recreation & Leisure diploma). Certifications: Must have valid driver’s license (G) and daily access to a reliable vehicle Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required Standard First Aid with CPR Level C Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR Skills & Knowledge Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (an asset) Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Characteristics: Must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license, as this position requires regular travel to centre locations in Hamilton and surrounding areas Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling Availability to work from Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame. Flexibility to take on part-time or full-time schedules. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision. Passion for diversity, equality, and inclusion advocacy. Key Responsibilities: Setting and achieving goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities that promote children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework. Supervising children in your care at all times and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment. Organizing indoor and outdoor play areas, creating a welcoming space for all children. Conducting daily health checks, maintaining documentation, and addressing any concerns with the Centre Supervisor. Collaborating with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty and maintaining positive, professional relationships.
