About the Team The Research Stewardship Team in the UTS Research Office has a key role to ensure that research stewardship becomes a foundational component of the UTS research value proposition and provides transparency pertaining to assuring leadership in high-quality trusted research. The team’s remit comprises research ethics, research integrity, national security and foreign interference and research risk management. In relation to national security, the Research Stewardship team is responsible for the University’s response to national security legislation. About the Role The International Assurance Coordinator will ensure UTS meets its national security compliance obligations, including government reporting, using a risk-informed proportionate approach, partnering with stakeholders across the university to ensure we have resilient and streamlined processes addressing national security risks, including disclosure of interests. This enables institutional decision-making that is informed by benefits and risks. If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for: • Coordinate UTS compliance with Foreign Arrangements and Foreign Influence Transparency Schemes, including notifications and advice.• Review and strengthen national security risk management frameworks, conduct gap analyses, and provide training.• Assess and manage Disclosures of Interest related to foreign affiliations and associated risks.• Advise on national security compliance and develop mitigation strategies for high-risk activities.• Collect and analyse data for reporting, respond to audits, and prepare required reports.• Conduct Due Diligence on external partners and personnel and gather information to be able to respond to ARC assurance requests. • Conduct high-risk research project or engagement assessment and apply for defence export control assessments or permits where required to the relevant authorities. Demonstrable experience in designing and performing due diligence activities and risk management strategies. 3. Proven ability to build relationships and positive rapport and engender trust with a range of stakeholders. 4. Experience interpreting complex legislation and communicating it to different audiences. 5. Sound research, analytical, problem-solving solving and conceptual skills, including the capacity to form and justify recommendations, strategies and initiatives.6. Ability to analyse statistical data to make recommendations for informing strategy, identifying trends, opportunities and risks. Remuneration & Benefits Base Salary Range: $120,827 - $137,609 pa (HEW 8) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
