Job Description The International Business Development Director plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s global growth strategy. This executive-level position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and capitalizing on new business opportunities across international markets. The role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of global commerce, cultural intelligence, and a proven ability to navigate complex international business environments. As the primary architect of the company’s international expansion, the Director will lead efforts to enter new markets, establish strategic partnerships, and drive sustainable revenue growth. This includes overseeing market research, competitive analysis, and the development of go-to-market strategies tailored to each region. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator and negotiator, capable of building high-level relationships with partners, clients, and government entities across diverse geographies. In addition to external engagement, the Director will work cross-functionally with internal teams—including sales, marketing, legal, finance, and operations—to ensure alignment and execution of international initiatives. This role demands a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a strong focus on results, innovation, and long-term value creation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and execute a comprehensive international business development strategy aligned with company goals. Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, including emerging markets and untapped regions. Lead market entry strategies, including joint ventures, partnerships, and acquisitions. Partnerships & Client Acquisition Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and clients globally. Negotiate and close high-value deals with international clients and distributors in coordination with President. Represent the company at global trade shows, conferences, and networking events. Market Intelligence & Analysis Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions. Monitor global trends, regulatory changes, and economic indicators that impact business operations. Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate with marketing, legal, and operations teams to ensure successful market launches. May need to lead and mentor a team of regional business development managers and support staff. Performance & Reporting Set KPIs and performance metrics in coordination with President for international growth. Provide regular monthly reports and insights to executive leadership on progress, challenges, and opportunities. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred). 10+ years of experience in international business/project development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven success in expanding into new international markets and closing complex deals. Strong understanding of global trade regulations, cultural nuances, and international business practices. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Multilingual capabilities are a strong plus. Willingness to travel internationally up to 30–50% of the time.
