We are excited to offer the opportunity for a full medical fellowship within the specialism of Psychiatry. This is a two year structured programme which will be tailored to individual interests will create the perfect opportunity for Fellows to learn, develop and gain experience working alongside highly experience medical colleagues and other clinical professionals.
NHFT is able to offer direct sponsorship through the GMC and will work with you to make your transition into the NHS as easy as possible.
Our processes will ensure assessment of each applicant to ensure that they meet the entry requirements as stipulated in our GMC Sponsorship commitment.
The International Clinical Fellowship Scheme aims to enrol IMGs who have already completed a postgraduate degree in mental health in their home countries. The candidates therefore would already be trained psychiatrists and would have achieved the necessary competencies in the discipline of mental health to enable them to practice safely within our services.
It is essential that all candidates submitting an application for this role possesses the following minimum requirements:
Medical practitioners will already have over three years of clinical experience in Psychiatry. This will be at least three out of the last 5 years
Those applying for GMC Sponsorship must remain in clinical practice for the 12 months immediately preceding the date the application for GMC registration is made. Clinical Observerships are not considered medical practice.
Achieved a minimum score of 7.0 in all 4 categories of the Academic UKVI International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 7.5. You must take this test at one of the approved SELT Consortium test centres. ielts.org . The only exception is candidates who are nationals of a country where English is the first and native language and who graduated from a country where English is the first and native language.
Candidates will be required to be in Good Standing with their respective Medical Councils in their home countries
Candidates will be expected to provide evidence of progress towards, or success in obtaining a relevant postgraduate qualifications from their respective institution.
Be eligible for a Tier 5 visa and meet employment, pre-employment clearances as required by law to work in UK.

Enhancement of competencies in line with Good Medical Practice as outlined by GMC
Enhancement of skills which can be utilised on completion of the programme
Opportunity to become section 12 approved
Work under the approved practice setting in a structured programme with sufficient safeguards in place to ensure the standards set out in GMC’s Good Medical Practice are met
