Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an International Engagement Senior Tutor to join Te Puna Hauora - School of Health on a 5-month, fixed-term, part-time basis. This position will commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the bicultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand, hold relevant academic qualifications, and have experience supporting student learning in tertiary or equivalent settings. Experience in culturally sustaining and mana-enhancing practice is essential. We particularly welcome applicants with experience working with diverse student groups, including international students. This position is intended to support our growing international student cohort, particularly those entering our postgraduate health programmes. The successful applicant will work closely with Pouakorangi - Programme Directors and academic staff across the School and will contribute to the development and delivery of ongoing academic and pastoral support for international students. As this is a developing area of work within the School, we are seeking someone who can use their initiative to build strong, supportive relationships with students, and work effectively with wider University services that support student success. The role includes supporting teaching activities within postgraduate programmes (including the Master of Health), facilitating tutorials or workshops, and assisting students to engage successfully with course content, assessments, and academic expectations. You will: * Be able to effectively engage and support students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. * Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Be proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively. * Show a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice. * Experience supporting international students or working in tertiary education contexts is highly desirable.
