You’ll work with the international news teams across the UK, Europe and the US and with Guardian Australia.   You’ll help shape our coverage of global stories in the region, delivering bold, independent journalism to a worldwide audience.   About the role * Deliver high quality, digitally-led coverage of international news for GNM platforms. * Manage an international desk editing and production team in Sydney to provide world-beating coverage of events while other Guardian offices are offline. * Oversee the team’s curation of the Guardian’s UK, International, Europe and US websites in the Asia Pacific timezone. * Commission and deliver innovative video and audio content from the Asia Pacific region. * Work with the head and deputy heads of international news to manage correspondents, particularly members of the international team in the Asia Pacific region * React to breaking international news and oversee stories from the commissioning phase to publication. * Take sole responsibility for international coverage at certain times of the day - eg. when London and New York editors have finished their working day.  * Collaborate with editors in London, NYC and the West Coast of the US and correspondents on the ground on reporting projects. * Work with the head of international news, deputies and the GNM managing editors on issues relating to the safety and welfare of international correspondents   About you * Thorough knowledge and understanding of international news * Strong record in, and authoritative voice, on global news with expertise in coverage of Asia Pacific * Proven track record of digital news commissioning and innovation * Knowledge/awareness of the demands of all platforms, video, audio, digital and print * Awareness of the technological developments affecting the industry * Understanding of communities and how to develop them * Strong track record of effective people and departmental management and budget control * Ideally, you’ll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role    We actively encourage applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in the media.   About working at Guardian Australia…  * Hybrid working  * Employee assistance program (EAP) to support employee wellbeing * Paid volunteer leave * Dedicated diversity and inclusion employee groups, action plans (including our Reconciliation Action Plan) and cultural competency training * Guardian digital subscription   For more information please view the full job description here [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q3h6Y93MpR4uGFT2ugVI0D2HHN1gBIoa/view?usp=sharing].   To apply for this position, please apply online and upload your résumé (maximum three pages) plus covering letter.
