Job Summary: The International Shipping & Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating all international import and export activities for Carbon Composites Inc. (CCI) and Carbon Felt Inc. (CFI). This role ensures shipments are delivered on time, compliant with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations, and cost-effective. The specialist will serve as the main point of contact for freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers, maintaining organized records and audit-ready documentation.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience (5+ years in international shipping/logistics) may be accepted in place of formal education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS / MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in international shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or customs compliance (manufacturing experience preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Incoterms, and international trade practices.
  • Experience coordinating shipments from Asia and Europe to the U.S. strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and logistics platforms; strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to spot errors in documentation.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for working with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple shipments, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Multilingual skills (Mandarin, Spanish, or Portuguese) a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally (for handling samples or small shipments).
  • Occasional visits to warehouse or shipping/receiving areas, requiring walking, standing, or bending.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all import/export shipping activities for Carbon Composites Inc. (CCI) and Carbon Felt Inc. (CFI), ensuring both companies’ logistics needs are met.
  • Arrange and coordinate international shipments by ocean, air, and ground transportation.
  • Prepare and review all required shipping and customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs entry forms.
  • Ensure strict compliance with U.S. import/export regulations (CBP, ITAR/EAR) and international trade rules, including Incoterms and tariff classifications.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to secure space, negotiate rates, and resolve shipping delays.
  • Track and monitor shipments from origin to destination, providing updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical records of shipping and customs documentation in compliance with recordkeeping regulations.
  • Analyze shipping costs, identify savings opportunities, and make recommendations to improve efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary contact for international suppliers and customers regarding shipping requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineer, purchasing, and production teams to align shipping schedules with business needs.
  • Provide backup training and written procedures to ensure continuity of shipping operations in case of absence.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready digital and physical records for both companies in compliance with recordkeeping requirements (minimum 5 years).
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve international shipping and logistics procedures to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
