ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE This role is supervised by Tara Lyons, department of Criminology. SUMMARY The employee will be on call as an advisor to the research team. They will shape aspects of the community-based research project, Walk With Me - KPU, in coordination with the project team. This is a on-call position on a 6-month-long contract with possibility of extension. The position is a waged position and pays $50.00 per hour, with Mandatory Employment Related Costs deducted, and Vacation Pay added. We welcome applications from KPU students and alumni, particularly those with international student experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES You may be responsible for any or all of the following: Attend Research Team Meetings: Attend regular research team meetings, including weekly meetings with the Walk With Me - KPU working group. Contribute to conversations pertaining to involving a diverse range of students in the project. Participant Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment of research participants, which may involve reaching out to potential participants, distributing recruitment materials, etc. This position will work to build relationships with diverse student communities on-campus. Attend Data Collection Events: Support research sessions, including working with the Walk With Me team and Tara Lyons to host, set-up space and conduct research, which happens largely in a circle format. Help ensure all students are supported. QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with people who use drugs preferred Experience working with International Students and/or the South Asian community in Surrey Ability to provide feedback on cultural needs of students prior to and during data collection. Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively. Proven ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and dealing with change, delays or unexpected events, keeping constant sight of the overall objectives. Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving. Proven ability to recognize and maintain highest levels of confidentiality. Ability to maintain poise and professionalism in all types of situations. SALARY INFORMATION Anticipated hourly pay rate: $50.00
