POSITION SUMMARY

The International Student Recruitment and Retention Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract and retain a diverse population of international students. This role requires a collaborative, proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for fostering an inclusive academic environment. This position will serve as a key liaison between prospective students, recruitment partners, and various campus departments, ensuring that international students receive exceptional support throughout their educational journey.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, International Studies, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in student services, with a focus on international student recruitment and retention is required
  • Experience developing and executing international student recruitment and retention programs.
  • Strong organizational leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in content creation, social media management, and digital communications.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language, particularly those commonly spoken by AU international students, to enhance communication with diverse student populations and recruitment partners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Proven experience in program development and student engagement initiatives.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with international students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, social media engagement, and communications.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for international student recruitment, focusing on targeted outreach and cultivating longterm relationships with students, agencies, and partner institutions.
  • Build and manage relationships with international recruitment partners, agencies, and schools to enhance student engagement and recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and execute recruitment campaigns through digital marketing, social media, webinars, and virtual tours to increase global visibility and attract a diverse international student population.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) to issue and maintain Form I20s and manage student SEVIS records.
  • Advise international students on maintaining F1 status, including visa regulations, travel, address changes, enrollment, and program extensions.
  • Assist students with immigrationrelated concerns and ensure timely communication regarding compliance responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records related to student advising and immigration status.
  • Develop and execute campaigns through digital marketing, social media, webinars, and virtual tours to increase visibility and delivery of important information to a diverse international student population.
  • Collaborate with admissions, student life, academic advising, and student services to ensure a seamless transition for international students, promoting retention throughout their academic journey.
  • Coordinate recruitment travel and events for yourself and the international student services team to build strong relationships with global partners and drive international student enrollment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for international students, providing guidance on campus resources, wellness, and academic support.
  • Provide personalized support to international students, offering resources and guidance to help them succeed academically and socially, improving overall retention rates.
  • Partner with residence life, academic advising, and student services to deliver programs that support international students’ academic, social, and emotional needs for both oncampus and lowresidency students.
  • Implement programs and initiatives that foster engagement, academic success, social integration, and cultural adjustment, ensuring a positive student experience and helping to address retention challenges for international students.
  • Advocate for international students’ needs and promote an inclusive, supportive campus environment through collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Represent the needs and interests of international students in campuswide discussions and committees.
  • Coordinate the International Student Association and Eagle Ambassadors for International Students to foster connections between international and domestic students, promoting intercultural exchange.
  • Collaborate with student organizations to create intercultural events and initiatives that encourage student participation and community building.
  • Plan and execute events such as international student orientation, cultural celebrations, and lowresidency workshops tailored to international students.
  • Leverage local partnerships to improve retention efforts and contribute to the development of innovative retention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of international student recruitment and retention activities, outcomes, and engagement metrics.
  • Utilize retention data to identify trends and student needs, adapting programs to enhance student satisfaction and promote longterm success.
  • Prepare reports on program participation, retention trends, and student feedback for institutional assessment.
  • Stay informed of best practices in international student retention and implement new initiatives to continuously improve the international student experience.
