Description SUMMARY The Internet Sales Manager is responsible for driving high-quality digital traffic, converting online leads into showroom appointments, and delivering a frictionless customer experience from first contact through delivery. This role owns all internet-based sales channels and is directly accountable for response-time performance, lead follow-up discipline, and the department’s internet closing percentage. Rapid engagement is non-negotiable—every lead must be contacted immediately, nurtured professionally, and moved decisively through the funnel. The Internet Sales Manager partners closely with sales management, BDC, and marketing to maximize lead-to-appointment ratios, appointment show rates and sold-unit performance. This position requires operational rigor, real-time pipeline management, and the ability to coach and elevate team members to execute at a high level. Success is measured by fast response times, strong process adoption, and consistent gains in internet closing performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Hires, trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the productivity and performance of all new- and used-vehicle sales personnel. · Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees, ensuring proper staffing at all times. · Assists in establishing annual and monthly objectives for unit sales, gross profits, expenses and operating profit. · Contacts and schedules internal or outside lecturers, motivational speakers and sales technical or product specialists. · Prepares reports on progress of sales trainees under direct or indirect supervision during training periods. · Assists in developing the sales department budget and minimizing expenses. · Forecasts aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives for the department and for individual salespeople and provides them with the support to meet these goals. · Ensures proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing and monitoring a prospecting and sales control system. · Assists in the developing, implementing and monitoring a follow-up system for new and used vehicle purchasers. · Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership’s guidelines. · Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs. · Displays, merchandises and promotes new and used vehicles. · Assists in the development of improvement programs for salespeople who are having difficulty reaching their objectives. · Ensures that dealership policies and procedures are understood and followed by salespeople. · Helps maintain a balanced inventory based on customer and market statistics. · Helps salespeople close deals. · Ensures 100 percent turnover of each customer to F&I. · Appraises incoming used vehicles. · Shares responsibility with the General Sales Manager for planning and leading sales meetings. · Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicle sales. · Serves as liaison between sales department and other departments. Strives for harmony and teamwork with all other departments. · Assists in processing salesperson commission sheets daily and monitors the payroll records of all new and used vehicle salespeople. · Maintains professional appearance and a neat work area. · Attends managers meetings as requested. · Sets a good example by maintaining a healthy work demeanor and cooperating with other managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management or public groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages to apply to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
