OVERVIEW

The internship and special program coordinator are a staff position that will manage a comprehensive internship program throughout the academic year as well as creating, coordinating and recruiting for special programming each semester. This role includes strategic development of student internship opportunities, ensuring a high-quality learning experience that connects theory with practice. The role will also be called to teach up to three sections of the British Studies Historical Perspectives course.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate internships during the fall, spring, and summer terms.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Internship Handbook to guide students and host organizations.
  • Collaborate with students to determine appropriate internship placements aligned with their academic and professional goals.
  • Create customized Learning Plans for students participating in internships and meet with all interns on a weekly basis, documenting their progress and meetings.
  • Ensure all interns prepare and deliver an end-of-term presentation to share their experiences and outcomes with the broader team.
  • Proactively develop and cultivate internship opportunities with external partners.
  • Curate and maintain an up-to-date list of available internships for posting on the program website and for marketing to students.
  • Build and sustain cohorts of five or more interns per term, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
  • Developing JENZA positions within the college and with partner organizations
  • Creating the internship position adverts and placing them in appropriate locations to attract quality candidates
  • Interviewing candidates, assisting with questions and logistics of the JENZA process
  • Preparing learning plans for interns and reviewing these on a weekly basis with the interns on site to include documentation of progress.
  • Reviewing intern performance with supervisors and external sites
  • Growing the cohort of JENZA interns to five or more a semester with an option to increase.
  • Coordinate the academic and experiential components of cohort programs during the semester
  • Deliver assigned sections of British Studies Historical Perspectives during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Deliver one section of British Studies Historical Perspectives during the summer term.
    Other duties as assigned.
