In a nutshell Toyota Motor Europe offers a 6‑month research internship in battery cell and pack technology within its Powertrain R&D division in Brussels. The role focuses on AI‑driven data analysis and state‑of‑the‑art research on advanced battery technologies to support future electrification. Ideal candidates are Master’s or PhD students in engineering or data science, skilled in Python/ML, motivated by electrification, and able to translate complex technical insights into clear visuals. The internship requires EEA/Swiss citizenship and full‑time student status throughout the period. Your team and your responsibilities As part of TME R&D organization, the Powertrain Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME production plants and for planning and research of new European technologies. Latest focus points include electrification, big data and connectivity. Our team Powertrain Advanced / Planning / System is a Research team within Powertrain covering xEV battery, E-motor, E-Axle, Charging technology, etc. Your project With increasing electrification, batteries continue to play an increasingly important role in mobility and other areas. You will support to research the latest cutting-edge technology on battery cells and packs. We can tailor the project scope according to your skillset, but ideally, we focus on the following activities: 1) Data science: Develop AI-techniques to process large amounts of technology and market related data from a wide spectrum of information sources, interpret and process into educated future technology predictions and ultimately visualize these predictions. 2) Research: State-of-art & future technology research of latest cutting-edge battery technologies from research papers, conferences, patent landscaping, etc. into digestible information with the goal to leverage these as information sources for the AI-model.
