Join our Animation Research team in London and explore brand new neural network approaches for character animation. We're seeking passionate and driven students to redefine how animation is developed and experienced across Apple platforms. As an intern, you'll explore innovative alternatives to traditional methods, contribute to groundbreaking solutions, and collaborate with a team of expert engineers and researchers pushing the boundaries of real-time animation technologies for Apple devices. DESCRIPTION Are you passionate about applying machine learning to animation and graphics? In this internship you will get technical mentorship and guidance from senior engineers and researchers. You will investigate neural network–based methods for character animation, evaluate them against existing techniques, and prototype solutions in real-time environments. Together with your mentor, you will select a research direction that can influence future Apple products and the broader animation community. This is an opportunity to play a part in innovative pipelines, experiment with brand new ML methods, and develop tools that challenge the limits of real-time animation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Currently enrolled in a PhD or Master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, or a related technical field. Proficiency in Python. General knowledge of 3D character animation in real time, including linear blend skinning, skeletal animation, and joint traversal. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow). Familiarity with real-time rendering or game engines. Ability to design and evaluate new algorithms in a research setting. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a supportive environment.
