Internship - Office of the Legal Advisor (LEGAD) Primary Location: Brunssum, The Netherlands NATO Body: Headquarters Joint Force Command (HQ JFC) Brunssum Office: Office of the Legal Advisor (LEGAD) Schedule: Full-time Closing date for applications: 22 April 2026 Stipend: € 1477.30 (2026 rate) per month (taxable) Description: As an intern in the LEGAD Office at HQ JFC Brunssum you will be required to provide legal support to the LEGAD and contribute to the Office’s daily work. About the internship: During this 6-month programme, starting 1 February 2027 until 30 July 2027, you will join the Office of the Legal Advisor. As an intern, you will be required to actively contribute to the daily work of the LEGAD Office and support the Legal Advisors with background research and participation in working groups. Additionally, the intern will be expected to contribute to an agreed project and develop a legal research paper – upon their choice – in the areas of international law of military operations, law of armed conflict or the law of international organizations, in a topic of interest to JFCBS. The ideal candidate must: be enrolled and undertake the final year of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law with a focus on international law; possess knowledge of international organisations including the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation; be able to effectively plan and organize the working time; have the ability to work under pressure. In addition, we are looking for candidates having the following desirable skills: strong computer skills (e.g. ECDL) including use of Microsoft Office package; knowledge about NATO, international security structures, international organizations and the military aspects of international law; expressed interest in international law of military operations, law of armed conflict or the law of international organisations; be dynamic, self-motivated and personable with an ability to work in a team environment with people from diverse backgrounds. Stipend: You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of € 1477.30 (2026 rates), per month based on 37.5 hours internship work hours per week. We will also compensate you for travel costs to/from university to HQ JFC Brunssum (within set cap rates). Interns will be entitled to 2 days of leave for each full month (of 37.5 hours a week) of internship.
