Drug Substance focuses on the design and specification of process equipment used to manufacture drug substances. With experience from projects involving insulin, monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and more, the team covers both upstream and downstream processes, including:

  • Upstream: Cell banks, fermenters, bioreactors
  • Downstream: Filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, crystallization
  • Media and buffer preparation
  • Material handlin
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an intern to join either our Utility & Solvents or Drug Substance department during the fall of 2025, depending on your background and interests. Both teams support a wide portfolio of pharma projects and play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle from early design to production ramp-up. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in real projects and gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Utility & Solvents works with designing the utility systems that support pharmaceutical production. These include:

  • Clean and Black Utilities (e.g., pure water, clean steam, compressed air, cooling and heating systems)
  • Waste systems (e.g., biowaste, neutralization, exhaust)
  • Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems

As an intern in Utility & Solvents, you’ll help design and specify utility equipment, work with PFDs and P&IDs, and support related disciplines such as HVAC, EHS, and 3D model coordination. You’ll also get experience with procurement, risk assessments, and troubleshooting.

Drug Substance focuses on the design and specification of process equipment used to manufacture drug substances. With experience from projects involving insulin, monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and more, the team covers both upstream and downstream processes, including:

  • Upstream: Cell banks, fermenters, bioreactors
  • Downstream: Filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, crystallization
  • Media and buffer preparation
  • Material handling

An an intern in Drug Substance you’ll also be introduced to advanced topics such as single-use technology, containment design, process risk assessments, and layout and capacity planning — all as part of designing efficient, safe, and compliant facilities.

In all positions, there are some things that are preferred, and others, a bonus. If you do not meet all the qualifications listed below, you are welcome to offer alternative experience that you think would be valuable in this role.

  • You are in the later phases of a relevant engineering education within chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, mechanical engineer
  • You write and speak English. Danish and other languages will be considered an advantage
  • You master desktop software like Word and Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Visio is also an advantag
