Description
Company Description A sustainable, profitable, and enjoyable future for dairy farmers by combining robotization, engineering, and farming expertise. This is what we believe in. This journey began over 75 years ago with the dream of two brothers in Maassluis. Since then, we have become an innovative global leader in automated systems for dairy farmers worldwide. With 2,300 specialized professionals, we continuously work on new agricultural revolutions. We still do this from our Campus in Maassluis, the building with the highest achievable sustainability standards in the Netherlands, while also operating around the world. Our goal is to ensure that dairy farming remains attractive for future generations. Job Description Ready to explore how fluid dynamics shape the future of automated milking? As an Intern you will dive into the behavior of air and liquid flows within a milking system. You help us understand how these flows influence performance and efficiency and turn insights into practical engineering improvements. You will work on developing numerical simulations in Python and translate results into clear engineering requirements at subsystem or component level. You combine theory with practice by validating your models using real-world data. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team alongside system engineers, mechanical engineers, and test engineers. Together, you create smarter and more efficient solutions for dairy farming. Key responsibilities include: Develop numerical models in Python for fluid flow analysis Compare simulation data with measured results and improve model Investigate the effect of system parameters on performance Translate system-level behavior into component-level insights Document and present your findings to the team Practical information This is an educational internship You are available from September You are available full-time (40 hours per week) Qualifications You are curious about how theory and real-world systems come together and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges. You like working with data, models, and simulations, and you are motivated to turn insights into practical impact. Additionally, you bring the following: You are pursuing a WO degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Applied Physics You are available for a full-time internship (40 hours per week) for at least 3 months You have knowledge of numerical flow analysis and Python You have strong analytical, creative and problem-solving skills You are comfortable working in English Additional Information At Lely, we offer you an educational and dynamic internship experience at one of the most innovative organizations in the Netherlands. You’ll become part of a driven team and have plenty of opportunities to further develop your talents. An international working environment An internship allowance of €650 per month based on a 40-hour work week A student apartment if your commute is too long Our modern Lely Campus gives you daily access to extensive sports facilities: an indoor gym, outdoor padel courts, a basketball and volleyball court, as well as table tennis and foosball. You can join Hyrox workouts or sign up for personal training – and challenge your colleagues during an active break.
