Description
Your mission Why do an internship with us? You don’t want to run simulations just for slides – you want your work to influence real decisions? At C1 Green Chemicals, your models directly support process concepts that move from equations to pilot‑scale reality. What you build here has measurable impact on how sustainable chemical processes are designed. About us Cl Green Chemicals AG develops and scales new chemical processes from lab to pilot scale. Our teams span catalysis, synthesis, engineering and technical operations. Simulation plays a key role in deciding which technologies are built, tested and scaled – not as theory, but as a practical engineering tool. What you will do Build and run steady‑state and/or dynamic process simulations Integrate and adapt kinetic sub‑models within existing simulation environments Support early‑stage technical assessments of process concepts Assist with CAPEX/OPEX estimations using existing templates and assumptions Document assumptions, calculation paths and results in a clear, reproducible way Develop small programming tools or scripts for data handling, analysis or reporting Collaborate closely with engineering and lab teams – your results will be used further Your profile Must‑haves Enrolled in a Master’s program (chemical engineering, process engineering or similar) Mandatory internship as required by your study regulations Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, reaction engineering/kinetics and separations Hands‑on experience with process simulation software (e.g. Aspen Plus/HYSYS, gPROMS) Python skills (NumPy, Pandas, plotting, basic automation) Analytical mindset, structured documentation and strong ownership of your tasks Nice‑to‑haves Experience with dynamic simulation or model simplification Exposure to pilot‑scale or scale‑up topics Advanced AI skills, e.g. machine learning for parameter estimation, surrogate models, AI‑based optimization or automated analysis of large simulation datasets Curiosity to question models and assumptions, not just run them Why us? What we offer Close mentoring and clearly defined work packages with real impact Hands‑on work on actual engineering decisions, not academic exercises Modern tools and structured methods at the interface of simulation and engineering Insight into building sustainable chemical technologies up to pilot scale Option to continue with a Master’s thesis, if it’s a good fit Compensation according to company standards About us Re-inventing chemistry We develop disruptive chemical production processes by rethinking them from the atomic level all the way up to production scale. We explore new chemistries by employing quantum-chemical simulations and transfer them into proprietary production technology. Designing green processes We develop & scale our new technologies based on renewable feedstocks & energy. From the very first steps in the development of a production process, we design it to enable closed carbon loops. Without compromise. Defossilizing industries With our climate-friendly chemical technologies we support industries in their net zero journey. Our first disruption is the proprietary C1 methanol technology. It unlocks green methanol production by overcoming long-standing challenges.
Responsibilities
Build and run steady-state and dynamic process simulations to support the development of sustainable chemical processes. Collaborate with engineering and lab teams to integrate kinetic models and perform technical assessments for scale-up.
